Matthew Stafford's Spouse Calls Out Referees After Rams' Controversial Loss
The Rams and their fans are not holding back when it comes to criticizing NFL officials. Just hours after Puka Nacua slammed the 'Thursday Night Football' referees for their calls in the Rams' 38-37 loss to the Seahawks, Matthew Stafford's wife, Kelly, took to Instagram to voice her concerns.
In a post featuring a replay of Cooper Kupp's spectacular overtime catch, Kelly Stafford questioned the referees' reaction, asking, 'Have you ever seen officials this excited about a catch?' She then highlighted two controversial plays that influenced the game's outcome.
The first incident occurred in the first quarter at Lumen Field, where a Rams touchdown was nullified due to an ineligible man downfield flag. Interestingly, NFL rules expert Terry McAulay later stated that this wasn't even a foul. The second play Kelly addressed was the Seahawks' improbable two-point conversion, which tied the game at 30 in the fourth quarter.
Puka Nacua, who had previously called referees 'the worst' during a livestream, tweeted, 'Can you say I was wrong. Appreciate you stripes for your contribution. Lol.' He later deleted the post, but not before Sean McVay, the Rams head coach, expressed his astonishment over the two-point conversion call during a tense postgame press conference.
McVay stated, 'I’ve never seen anything or never been a part of anything like that. And I’ve grown up around this game. I’m not making excuses. We don’t do that. I don’t believe in that. It doesn’t move us forward, but we do want clarity and an understanding of the things that we can do to minimize that when we reject the two-point conversion.'
