Texas TE Jack Endries to Play in Citrus Bowl | NFL Draft Prospect? (2026)

Get ready, college football fans! Texas Longhorns tight end Jack Endries is gearing up to play in the Citrus Bowl against the No. 18 Michigan Wolverines on December 31st, according to a report from OnTexasFootball. This game is more than just a bowl appearance; it's a pivotal moment in Endries' career.

After a Senior Night walk-on last month, the redshirt junior is facing a significant decision: will he declare for the 2026 NFL Draft after the bowl game?

Endries, a former walk-on, stands at 6'4" and weighs 236 pounds. He joined the Longhorns in June as a highly anticipated transfer from Cal, stepping in to fill the shoes of Gunnar Helm, who was drafted in the fourth round by the Tennessee Titans after a stellar 2025 season. Ranked as the No. 4 tight end in the transfer portal and the No. 131 overall player by 247Sports, Endries made a name for himself at Cal. In 2024, as a redshirt sophomore, he led the Golden Bears with 623 receiving yards on 56 receptions (averaging 11.13 yards per catch).

However, the transition to Texas wasn't without its challenges. Endries' receiving numbers dipped, with 28 catches for 311 yards and two touchdowns during the season. Accuracy issues from quarterback Arch Manning played a role, as did offensive line struggles. The team's inability to execute the tight end screen game, a key factor in Endries' decision to join Texas, further complicated matters.

Following the San Jose State game, Endries had only nine receiving yards on six catches over the next five games. His performance improved towards the end of the season, with a notable 49-yard game against the Razorbacks and a 93-yard showing against the Aggies.

Here's where it gets controversial... If Endries enters the draft, his performance at Cal might carry more weight than his Texas stats. This raises the question: should he stay for another season of college football? The Longhorns would undoubtedly love to have him back.

What do you think? Will Endries declare for the draft, or will he return to Texas? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
